The Storms of Life

Storms clear the way for the new things to come.

Allow the storm to work in your life, you will be better for it.

Note to Self: Self Motivation

Even the most optimistic people are still human, with emotions overshadowing the light, causes it to seem blurred and afar.

Take thought in that a light that sits upon a hill cannot be hide. And if you push to focus on what is ahead, the present challenges will fall from you like shackles.

Release yourself from your fears by willing your energy to accept only the good thoughts you have of your present future.

It will work out.
Things always do.

I love the champion warrior in you.

Andrea C., New Jersey

Tell us a little about your blog, Naturalle Drea.

My outlet for talking about my love of natural hair, makeup, fashion, life and anything beauty related.

Why did you begin blogging?

The idea just came to me one day when I was at home on my day off. I wanted to do something that was me, outside of being mommy, girlfriend, friend and daughter. I wanted an outlet where I could talk about my natural hair journey, products that I love so much and about life. I knew blogging would give me that outlet I wanted and be able to connect with those that share the same passion as I do.
What motivates you to dedicate time to blogging?
I want to be a successful blogger and I’ve learned along the way that you have to really put in the time, dedication and work to make it successful. Nothing comes easy and you have to work for it. I am driven by success. Plus I have fallen so much in love with blogging., that if I could, I would blog everyday.

So find your happy place and prepare to meet a lady who has her

hand on the pulse of what is new and now, oh yeah and she is preparing to say “I do!”

Ladies and Gentlemen,

                                                                                   Brittany Bazile.BrittanyBazile1

Please introduce yourself to the readers.

Hi everyone! I am Brittany from San Antonio, TX.

Tell us a little about your blog, Your Friend Brittany.

The idea behind Your Friend, Brittany was that I wanted a place to share my thoughts, feeling and opinions. I wanted a place to come and talk about things going on in my life as well as things happening around me and I wanted to be able to share that with people who may be interested. My hope was that I’d not only share my experiences and feelings in a way that was fun, truthful, and interesting to others but that it would also spark a bit of conversation with my readers and that the conversation would flow organically like a group of friends; hence the name of the blog.

Why did you begin blogging?

I started blogging back in 2011 because a few people told me they thought I should. I was forever ranting  about something and it seemed like a good outlet. I was a bit all over the place with that first blog and eventually transitioned it into a Tumblr blog back in 2013. I ended up taking a break in 2014 from writing, Twitter, and most social media and transitioned my Tumblr blog into a fashion/street style blog only, but at the beginning of 2015 I got the itch to blog again. I started Your Friend, Brittany because I honestly enjoy blogging; I like the community aspect of it and like having a place to get your thoughts and feelings out. I found myself really missing lifestyle blogging so I came back.

What motivates you to dedicate time to blogging?

One thing that motivates me is that I enjoy blogging. I find it fun to have an idea and then to try and think about whether or not that can work as a blog post. I also tend to do a lo oft my blog posts in one chunk of time and then save them in drafts. This helps me on those days or weeks when I may not feel like coming up with anything. Another big motivator is that I never want someone to start reading my blog or stumble upon an older post they like and then realize I haven’t posted in forever!! This happens to me all the time.

BrittanyBazileBlog

I am forever finding a great blog and then realizing the person rarely posts. I try to remind myself of this on days when I may not feel like writing. That being said, I do think it’s worth noting that while I do have the occasional longer post, most of my content on Your Friend, Brittany is shorter essay style posts, book recommendations, and lists. This isn’t to say that it’s not work to create that content because it is but it is to say that I’m not writing these lengthy essay posts every day. I have done that before, respect how challenging that can be, and I can understand how it can be hard to find motivation to keep those kinds of posts going daily on a blog.

In one year, what do you hope manifests from your blogging?

I’d like to have more followers and more interaction on posts. I’m starting to see more comments on my posts and that’s great but I would love to get my followers up too!

Name two of your favorite bloggers you follow.BrittanyBazile3

I’m a big fan of Drea from The Drea Daily and Sarah from Venus Trapped in Mars. Drea’s site is so aesthetically pleasing and clean and simple. I really enjoy her content and think it’s a nice mix of so many different things. I also love her on Twitter. I am a huge fan of bloggers who actually tweet real things instead of just links to their posts or only blogging related topics. Sarah somehow turned a blog that seems to be geared towards teaching women about sports into a great all around lifestyle blog that also teaches women about sports. She’s one of the few people I’ve seen who can do the whole sponsored posts thing the right way. Just like Drea, she’s also great on Twitter too. I find both ladies to be incredibly authentic on their blogs and Twitter as well as fun to interact with on social media.

What legacy do you want to leave behind for others to know about you?

You know, I’ve never really thought of this in terms of blogging. Truthfully, I’m really only concerned with what my family and friends know/think about me but I will say that I hope anyone who visits my blog knows that I’m authentic. I think that may be a downfall of mine should I ever try to turn this blog into some big time, fancy, proper money making blog. I just don’t know how to be anything other than me and I personally think that’s a great thing but in a society where image is everything I imagine that my occasional potty mouth and sometimes controversial opinions may be off putting to some; still, authenticity over everything. Also, if I can add one thing, I repeat this so many times on my blog and tell anyone who will listen because it took me years to realize it but I’d like for everyone to know and truly understand that your thoughts shape your reality; this is such an important thing to learn.

Upcoming projects or events?

Nothing blog related. I’m still in the baby stages of this blog so I’m just working on growing it and seeing where it’s at once I get to the one year mark. Personally I’m in the final stages of wedding planning and getting married in September so I’m kind of focused on that.

Motivation for Perspective: Go Getter Monday

Make sure what you are holding on to,
Is not holding you back.
There is a real simple way to determine such a thing; reciprocity.
Are you being fed as much as you feed?
Who pours into you?
Take some inventory of your resources and efforts and speak to yourself about what it really is, despite what you thought it was or could be.

You may be surprised at your findings. And you don’t have to go on a forget you cleanse, however you do need to prioritize the people and things in your life. The more effort you put into your goals, the more effort you should put into connecting with people and places that pour back into you.

Don’t settle for less when it comes to creating the lifestyle you desire.
Make A Plan.
Take Action.

Motivation for Perspective: Go Getter Monday

Change happens.
It is a necessary part of our development to achieve the goals that we have.
It is the catalyst which transitions our dreams into reality or our deepest insecurities.

Change ignites action on our part….
Because now we have to decide what am I going to do? Now that things have changed, what will be the next move to ensure that this new change does not knock me off the path towards success.

Having a plan to go along with our goals, allows us to navigate through the plains of an ever changing environment. When we write down what we desire and what we hope to accomplish, it helps us to formulate options when situations arise that changes the course of our journeys.

You can’t be caught off guard or unprepared when you align yourself with a plan to succeed no matter the circumstances.

Change is inevitable.
So don’t fool yourself about what the picture looks like now, keep stretching your vision to incorporate the full view, because right now, these moments we cherish or loathe, will not always be.

Step out of your comfort zone and start planning for the next step, or change will come and plan for you.

Go Get what is yours.
Plan how to capitalize off of your dreams.
Work towards your goals.
Reflect what you want everyday.

It’s all about consistency Go Getters!

Motivation for Perspective: Go Getter Monday

Welcome back to another week of action and I hope that your weekend was a productive one as well…no matter the capacity.

I for one am running off an extremely high vibe from all the fortunes the universe is shifting in my direction.

And with a shift, comes severs and new foundations formed.

I told you all earlier this year is one of transparency for me, because I no longer want to hold the attention of people simply for the purposes of not being alone and liked.

So within this I speak to myself as well:

Being honest with what you want is key to living the life you desire.

If you can imagine such a thing, such a thing can happen; the kicker is you have to Get Up and Go Get It.

When we begin to follow our desires, life has a way of floating us towards the shore. And when we are focused on our promises to ourselves, life will bring in special guests who we had no idea existed so close to home. It is the wonder of it all that makes me reach for my calling in this world.

The wonder of how one day you can be in total frustration of lack and weeks later be in position to gain more than you need.

The action is the only important thing in being a Go Getter; for it produces.

Set Up Shop. Go Get It.

Flyy Girl Feature Friday: United States Attorney General Loretta Lynch

lorettalynch1I am so glad to finally close out this week and get into the weekend.

But before I do, let’s get into today’s Flyy Girl Feature!

Loretta Lynch was officially inducted as the first Black Female United States Attorney General on April 23, 2015.

Hailing from a career which stems from her beginnings as a litigation associate to her tenure as a U. S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, in 1999 under President Clinton’s administration. She later left her position to become partner at Hogan & Hairston, until she was nominated by President Obama as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York in 2010. From the years of 2003-2005, she served as a board member of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

Lynch’s nomination followed the departure of her predecessor, Eric Holder, who previously stated his resignation pending confirmation of his replacement. And on November 8, 2014, President Obama made her nomination official.

While her transition into the office of U.S. Attorney General has been met with some pushback from Republicans and the city of Baltimore, Maryland is in a current state of extreme tension from the result of Freddie Gray dying in police custody, I hope that she will bring a better and effective plan to the table that serves to protect the rights of all U. S. citizens.

Here’s to Change!
