Utilizing logic over emotions.
Yes, it would be nice to give people a piece of our minds, but in the end we risk looking like fools.
People make mistakes.
Hell, we make mistakes.
So, let’s try to give others the benefit of the doubt.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Mrs. Carline Dumerline-Folkes
Clinton was wound up with undeniable anticipation of seeing Kerra at his party. He knew in his mind he was behaving like a hormonal fifteen year old boy, but his heart always beat louder than his logic. From the moment he laid eyes on Kerra at a community fundraiser event her previous employer hosted, he knew that she was one of a kind. The appeal of Kerra was not her look, but what she evoked from within. How she felt about the causes of inadequate fresh food supply into communities cut off by transportation and poverty and what she did to help bring the monies to grow food locally and train residents to maintain their crops, all with no corporate or federal backing; she was some special kind of woman! The fact that she was breathtakingly beautiful was a happy bonus!
That night he made it his business to introduce himself; with his family’s history for good measure. The Judges were a family who were known throughout the community for their service excellence and sustainable efforts with community programming. He figured he would have no problem catching Kerra James’ attention that night. And although he wanted to speak about business, his logic told him that it was not all he was after. Thinking it was the alcohol, Clinton put his glass of scotch on the passing waiter tray. He settled into a corner of the room, enclosed by two columns that adorn the Herndon Home, and watched Kerra, more carefully than before.
She seemed to move throughout the crowd as if she were a gracious Queen. No arrogance shown in her demeanor, her effortless smile and the intent look of genuine interest she gave each person who wished to speak with her, made him want to reach out to her. God! How he wanted to pull her tall frame into his and slowly guide her around the room, slowly basking in her glory, savoring the rays of her goodness. It made a man like Clinton feel good to have a woman who draws other unto her, without being provocative. Her femininity was intoxicating, he wondered how her tall frame would feel hugged closed to his. Without another moment to waste on his far-fetched fantasies, he gathered himself to approach her.
Clinton let out a deep sigh as he brought his mind back to the present. He was awaiting the arrival of his best friend Matthew Pitts, who also served as his business partner. The two had been building their marketing firm for the past five years. Just as he were about to call Matt, his friend entered the coffee shop wearing a wide grin across his face.
Either you have good news or you found a parking space close to the shop? Clinton spoke cheerfully.
Ahh my good man, not only do I have good news, but I too found a close spot! But before I get ahead of myself, lemme place my order. Did you order yet? Matt removes his jacket and picks up his menu, peering over the top to get Clint’s reaction.
No, not yet. I was waiting on you. And instead of ordering at the counter, now you just fill out this cards and take it up front. He pushed a card towards Matt, who speedily filled his out and waited for Clinton to pass his.
After their orders were in, the two sat across each other in the booth as Matt got settled in to share his good news.
Remember the chick I use to date who does the PR for the LemonLime Restaurant Group? Shelly. Shelly Kilmer?
Clint nods his head.
Well, she tells me that they are preparing to open a new restaurant on the main entrance of Lenox Mall. They aren’t currently working with a marketing firm and they don’t currently have an in-house personnel….she put our name in the hat man! We could totally get this bid!
Clinton looked at his friend’s grin and felt his spreading across his own face.
Man, this is great news! We have been waiting to bag a top brand, this could be the start of many more to come!
I know. Matt spoke. This is why it is important that your party is beyond what it normally is. We have to show these people what we are capable of even on a birthday party level! Matt was so excited his arm movements help to exaggerate his words.
Clinton understood what he was saying; however he was positive that what he had planned for his special night would have everyone leaving in high spirits. The party was handled.
Listen, I know you have everything handled already man, it’s just, I am so pumped about this opportunity! I’ve been so excited, I haven’t had time to find a date for the party. He thought for a quick second. Maybe Shelly? Nah. Too soon for business and pleasure….although, we’ve had our pleasure before. He grinned despite his efforts not to.
Clinton shook his head at his friend as he chuckled.
What about you Clint? Who are you bringing to the party? Matt asked.
Clinton thought about telling Matt of Kerra’s invite to the party, but decided against it. The two never really seemed to hit it off. Matt did not understand the affection Clinton held for her.
I honestly have not yet decided if I should have a date present.
Would that have anything to do with the fact that a Ms. Kerra James is in town? Matt asked casually as he seasoned his piping hot breakfast plate. He looked up to meet Clinton’s gaze, awaiting his friend’s answer.
How did you kn…
Man, how many times do I have to tell you? I know people everywhere. They see it all and figure to tell me. Besides, when were you going to tell me that you knew?
Clinton sighs. I don’t know. You always give me so much crap about Kerra. I guess, I didn’t want to hear it this time. Plus, it’s just a party, not like she and I will be alone. He turned to look out the window as he ended his sentence. In his mind he could see her again at that fundraiser, looking beautiful and regal. And he thought about how he’d wanted a moment alone with her then. He dragged his hand down his face as if wiping off the emotion of the memory.
And so it begins. Matt muttered. Chasing Kerra.
In his mind, Kerra should be falling at her knees to have the affection of Clinton Judge. He could have anyone he wanted, and he wanted her, a Black woman.
Yeah I know, it’s a male feature on HeyGirlHey!!! ….but once you finish reading this review, you will understand why.
I must admit, I previously listened to J. Cole in passing, therefore I’m gonna spare you the search engine biography and lyrical acension thesis.
However, being a lover of music and having longed missed the days of lyrical storytelling and unapologetic views of life; I am thanking God for 2014 Forest Hills Drive.
This has to be the motivational record of the century! When was the last time you heard a mainstream, commercially successful rap artist tell you to love? To unite? To be an example? And to challenge others who are as successful to pay it forward, with love? Yeah, ponder that.
Now this ain’t a Ghandi album, because Cole goes hard with all his viewpoints. For instance G. O. M. D. (get off my d) where he definitely was feeling his space. It is definitely a “haters beware” groove, without the tiring, redundant reference. Definitely a banger.
While listening to A Tale of 2 Cities, I imagined myself taking all current albums and stomping them beneath my feet while waving my arms and hands in the air….when you listen to the album, you will understand.
No Role Modelz, could be the anthem for a lot of us. The 80s baby. The “I’m only getting older, what do I want outta life” anthem. Funny how a song can sum it up perfectly. Who and what are we looking to for inspiration? Who and what are we gravitated torwards?
-that”s a whole new topic
What I hope to convey through this review is, J. Cole gave us our musical sanity back. We can let the entire album play and never skip a song. We can bare the burdens and those ever growing boughts of traffic. The unfairness of society. The beauty of God given things, family, friends, love and happiness.
We can be inspired to be creative and produce something epically dope as well.
This album reaffirms the sentiment of being a big changer on a small everyday level.
Do You Wanna be Happy?, Cole asks. I say, listen to this album, it is a start.

I think the hardest thing in the entire world to do, is to try. The moment you attempt something of passion or something you have never done before, in the manner in which you are attempting it, with the vision you see for it, you will become lazier than a group a dandelions swaying in the shady breeze of a scorching hot summer day. To say that I am slightly a procrastinator, would be a total misconception and major understatement.
What in the world have I been thinking I could complete my mission while continuing my present behavior. Chill mode is not the mode of a consistent and successful entrepeneur. Chill mode is the danger zone for an artist, too much of one thing can never be good for the mind.
Which brings me to what I have seriously though about. Really looking to meet with others who are currently trying to write or be more creative with what they have begun and push towards the next level of their creativity.
A space where writers understand the nuances of being great, not in a cocky jerk head type of way, but in a what I wanted to say, I said and people got it.
If you would interested in exchanging emails for encouragement, I am totally open to that.
Please be sure to comment and let me know of somethings you do to stay motivated and writing.
It’s not enough to want to, you have to do something about it.
HeyGirlHey!!! is back with a brand new Flyy Girl feature as well as the second part to the Exclusive Morisha Danee debut feature.
In editing this piece, I made notice that Morisha Danee wrote (I) in the lower case form throughout the entire questionnaire. I figured, she did that for a reason, it means something. And ac tually it helps to the (I) not seem so prominent within the sentence, it paints a better cavas on the screen. Catch that! Get deep with it one time!
So, lets share that.
A special thank you goes to each and every one of you who came onto the site Tuesday and this entire week, and showed so much support in viewing the debut for Part 1 The New Voice of Feel Good Music!
We had over 100 views, which was our biggest feature article to date!
Today is a round of 21 questions, well maybe not literally but HeyGirlHeyy!!! got Morisha to open up about how she views being an independent artist, featured artist on BlackandSexytv, being compared vocally and becoming a Grammy winner.
Morisha Danee Part 2
How long have you been creating music? What was the very first song you wrote and did you record it?
I have been creating music since i was able to write complete sentences that made sense. so i was at least 8 or 9. The very first song i wrote i honestly can’t remember. I always wrote poetry with the intent to turn them to songs, but never did.
So im not sure of my very first one. I guess further down the line Favorite Fantasy, was the first.
Give us a quick history of Morisha Danee, the artist.
Morisha Danee` came about in 2006 when i really tries to go hard in the indie world of music again. It’s always been just me! I discovered that girl again in 2011 before i put my first 7 Song EP out ThisIsMePart1Mellow
I see you are currently working on a new album, what are some of the sounds you are experimenting with?
Lyrically, are we in for new topics and point of views or can we expect more lovely songs like Attention and Keeper?
YES! NEW TOPICS!! This album is very positive and encouraging, it has some love, some hurt, some vulnerability and empowerment! Some personal experiences and some that’s not! But i hope people dig it just as much as Keeper and Attention.
While we are on the subject of “Attention” please tell us the inspiration behind that dope ass song.
You would have to ask the guy who wrote and arranged it. My old friend and schoolmate Rafael ” Felly The Voice” Ishman. I just added a few ” Morisha Danee ” touches to it here and there lol. He sent over a couple dope songs and i picked that one because i felt it. I’ve lived with feeling that way being that i am a lover not a fighter. I wanted to give my audience some versatility and didn’t want to collab with just anyone. I knew felly was perfect and he believed in me as well to deliver his song. So that s how Attention came about.
Are you looking to remain an independent artist or are you looking to sign with a major distributor?
What are some of the pros you experience being an independent artist, that you wouldn’t have as a mainstream artist?
Yes i am looking to remain Indie! I’m so not interested in ” major labels ” because they take away from whats original. Plus why not have my own power. I have total control, that’s why i love it! I can give my Morishafans the real me, unfiltered, verses being mainstream. You have to be what they want you to be, do what they want you to do or they gone drop your ass for the chick that will be ok with whatever. So indie it is for me!
What is the ultimate goal of your music career?
My ultimate goal is being nominated as Best New Indie Artist or Best New Singer/ Songwriter. i would literally cry my eyes out lol.
What would you say are the essential basics for maintaining a fruitful music career? (being able to profit from your work)
The best way to profit from your work is making sure everything is legit so far as copy writes and publishing and of course making sure you have some sort of distribution, promotion, marketing, etc.
Introduce us to your teammates, the people who help you build and maintain the Morisha Danee brand.
Honestly i built the Morisha Danee` Brand by myself…People who help with the sound is none other than my good friend/ drummer Carlton ” Bigcee ” O’neal. He produced Keeper and few others and is also the producer of the majority of my new project im working on now that will be available some time in 2015. He gives me that original sound i want and helps me make a lot of decisions when i don’t know the answers. He’s a lot of what you see visually behind the scenes of Morisha Danee` The Brand being that i have no manager yet. We making it do what it do… no excuses lol
I must say, had it not been for Black&SexyTV, I may not have heard your music. How did you originally team up?
I kind of stumbled on Black and Sexy TV one night surfing the internet. An old friend of mine had posted a status on Facebook about the show and it just caught my attention. I knew it had to be independent because it was on YouTube. Well i support indie so i decided to check it out. I fell in love… I had just found my new favorite shows. I noticed all the great music on the episodes and wondered if they could help me. So i took a risk and sent Dennis Dortch an email introducing myself and my music and what i was trying to do. I was shocked to find out that he responded and loved my music. He let me know that he would love to help and the relationship grew from there.
Your music seems to be a perfect fit for their programming. Have you been approached to guest star on Hello Cupid?
I have not been introduced to hello cupid stars. Can’t wait till that time comes tho… seems like fun ladies
Are you a thespian as well? If so, what types of movies would you be drawn towards?
No i’m not an actress, even tho i would love to act one day. I would love to do movies like Love Jones and Brown Sugar
I noticed your resume boasts an impressive skill set; singer/songwriter/arranger/producer…how did you become confident in putting the pieces together to create such warranted sounds?
It just comes natural. It’s in my heart.
While researching your music, a lot of people are comparing your sound to Tweet/Faith Evans/India.Arie. Where do you draw your musical inspiration from?
Tweet is my favorite singer so i can see why people would make that comparison. My lighter notes come out song bird like so i guess that’s why people would say that, i feel my voice is raspy other times. Faith… i love her so i cant get mad at that comparison lol. My musical inspirations are none other than Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Donny Hathoway, Brandy, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, India Arie, Lauryn Hill, Jazmine Sullivan and Prince.
