Flyy Girl Feature Friday: Ashley Clayton

Welcome back to another fabulous edition of Flyy Girl Feature Friday!

While this blog has tons of fashion sense and advice, it also doesn’t turn a blind eye to the topics of discussion which swirl around us everyday. I like a woman who sets out to accomplish her goals, but also knows it is her duty to share her space as a place for communication and understanding.

Because at the end of the day, yes, blogging can be a selfish job, but it can also be a way to enlighten others and make them aware of what is happening beyond their community and to help give them some clarity with various issues.

So cheers to this Brown Blogger, for her multi-faceted topics and for allowing her readers to step inside her world beyond the fashion

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Ms. Ashley Clayton

Please introduce yourself to the readers.AshleyClayton2

Ashley Clayton, Fresno CA

Tell us about your blog, Twe1ve2

Twe1ve2 is a bit of a lifestyle blog and a bit of personal memoir with a splash of my opinions on various topics.

Why did you begin blogging?

When I graduated from college in 2014, I decided that I wanted to go into social media marketing or Public Relations. After applying to countless positions, I was told by a family friend that I did not have a strong online presence. She mentioned to me that this was probably the reason I wasn’t being hired. So I created Twe1ve2 hoping that my blog would help me secure a career in my profession of choice.

What motivates you to dedicate time to blogging?

My friends are my biggest motivators. Their constantly asking me when is my next blog post or what topic I’m looking into writing about. Without all of their support I probably would have given up a long time ago. I tried to blog before and didn’t have the support that I do now. So all of my success in the blogosphere is attributed to them.

In one year, what do you hope manifests from your blogging?

A year is a long time…. but I hope to secure a stable following. I also would like to see my blog grow in followers and engagement. However; I hope my blog inspires someone. That someone, somewhere reads a post or finds one of my related social media accounts and is inspired.

Name two of your favorite bloggers you follow.

I happen to know both of my favorite bloggers personally so it’s really exciting that I get to share them with you.

Michael Stover is not only one of the closest people to me but he’s an amazing hip hop blogger that writes for various sites across the internet.

The other happens to be a friend of mine from college, Janae Bryson of Janae Sais Quoi. She writes a fashion/lifestyle blog that I definitely stay up to date with.

What legacy do you want to leave behind for others to know about you?AshleyClaytonblog

I want people to know that words aren’t just words. When I was in college I used to call a ton of people my “best friend” except the people who were really my “best friend”. My overuse of the word caused it to have less power than many people would allow it to have. I want people to feel that way about all words. As a writer I understand that there is power in language, vocabulary, and how you choose to use the two together.

Upcoming projects or events

I have a lot of upcoming projects towards the end of the summer. I plan on making the move to a self-hosted website. So I’ll be over at which is really exciting for me. I also plan on reviewing a couple of music festival and working with a few brands on blog posts once I make the switch.

The biggest out of all of my projects though is the hosting switch. Once I make the switch I plan on having a giveaway to celebrate it. I won’t say what the prizes are but I happen to be a big fan of Chipotle.

AshleyClayton1Make sure you check out more of what is in store for Ashley on her blog, Twe1ve, and follow to stay up-to-date with her upcoming site move! Best of success to her!

Flyy Girl Feature Friday: Britteny McZeal

Honey, it is finally Flyy Girl Feature Friday, and I for one am glad about it!

Sometimes fashion blogs can seem to mimmick each other and there seems not to be one that quite suites my oh so short attention span, and then I stumbled upon a blog

that unapologetically gives commentary to the world of fashion, with a fun and sopho-edge-chic feel.

Candidly Creole is like opening your favorite fashion magazine and actually enjoy reading the stories

 that accompany each picture.

Ladies and Gentlemen you are in for a great new discovery,

                                              Miss Britteny McZeal.BrittanyMcZeal

Please introduce your to the readers.

My name is Brittney from Lafayette, Louisiana.

Tell a little about your blog, Candidly Creole:

My blog, Candidly Creole, is  a collection of my candid thoughts on topics like fashion, pop culture, music, books, and makeup.  Basically, anything I’m really feeling at the moment  – a song, an outfit idea, a face product – gets blogged about.

Why did you begin blogging?

One reason why I began blogging is because I like to create things. I love making graphics and taking pictures, and that was one of the primary reasons why I started to blog.

What motivates you to dedicate time to blogging?
I originally began blogging as a way to pass the time, but over the year it has grown to be something I really enjoy doing. This is probably my 4th blog to date and it’s been the only one that I’ve been the most consistent with. Sometimes, however, I do find a little difficult for me to stick with a schedule or think of a good blog post. But in the end, I just blog about what I want to blog about and not what I think I should blog about.

In one year, what do you hope manifests from your blogging?
In one year, I hope to build more connections and communication with other bloggers and creatives across the internet.

Name two of your favorite bloggers you follow.CandidlyCreole1

Two of my favorite bloggers are Christina from ProFresh Style and Carmen from She Recycles Fashion because they are super stylish.

What legacy do you want to leave behind for others to know about you?

I’ve never really thought about this before, but I want others to know that I am a passionate and hardworking individual.

Upcoming projects or events?

I can’t really think of any upcoming events or projects, but if I do I will let you know!

Be sure to follow Britteny on WordPress and stay in the know on what’s hot and fun on Candidly Creole!

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Ms. Andrea “Drea” C.NaturalleDreatree

Welcome! Please introduce yourself to the readers:

Andrea C., New Jersey

Tell us a little about your blog, Naturalle Drea.

My outlet for talking about my love of natural hair, makeup, fashion, life and anything beauty related.

Why did you begin blogging?

The idea just came to me one day when I was at home on my day off. I wanted to do something that was me, outside of being mommy, girlfriend, friend and daughter. I wanted an outlet where I could talk about my natural hair journey, products that I love so much and about life. I knew blogging would give me that outlet I wanted and be able to connect with those that share the same passion as I do.
What motivates you to dedicate time to blogging?
I want to be a successful blogger and I’ve learned along the way that you have to really put in the time, dedication and work to make it successful. Nothing comes easy and you have to work for it. I am driven by success. Plus I have fallen so much in love with blogging., that if I could, I would blog everyday.
In one year, what do you hope manifests from your blogging?
I hope to continue to grow my readers and followers. I also want to put out better content and just be an overall better blogger than the year before.
Who are two of your favorite bloggers you follow?
What legacy do you want to leave behind for others to know about you?NaturalleDreaFace1
That I put 100% and then some into everything that I do, loved hard and was about my family and friends, you could always count on me to be there anytime especially for a good laugh and just an overall amazing and outgoing person.
Upcoming projects or events?
I have some highly requested hair and makeup tutorials in the works.

Flyy Girl Friday Feature: Delfine The Coco Gawdess

Fashion and beauty are probably the two most popular topics in the world of blogging.

And luckily for us ladies, there is no shortage of bloggers to choose from to get your daily dosage of  style, beauty and hair.

However, this next Brown Girl Blogger brings a nice spin on the reporting

of fashion and beauty, by adding some life experiences in the mix as well.

Here to serve us with fun, fashion and fierceness,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

                                                                 Miss Coco Gawdess, Delfine. TheCocoGawdessSign

Please introduce yourself to the readers:

My name is Delfine, but on the blog I go by The Coco Gawdess or sometimes Coco. I’m a city girl, born and raised in Queens, New York.

Tell us about your blog, The Coco Gawdess.

My blog, The Coco Gawdess, is a personal style blog. It was created to be a movement in celebration of beauty as a platform; where through fashion, beauty and life experiences, women could share in the reverence of womanhood. The link is

Why did you begin blogging?

To be quite honest, The Coco Gawdess isn’t my first blog. It’s more like my 6th or 7th. I have always loved writing, so much that one of my majors in college was Journalism. Blogging allowed me to write in a space where I had complete control over my work. I had total sovereignty over how much time I spent on the blog, what I wrote about and the design. It was a writer’s heaven.

I started The Coco Gawdess to fulfill my own needs, needs I believed other girls shared. There wasn’t anyone who looked, spoke, dressed or wrote like me. I have always been told that I have great style and that I’m a great public speaker and writer, but I wanted my blog to be so much more than a feed of pictures of myself in impractical clothing in unrealistic places or situations. I wanted The Coco Gawdess to be a resource for all girls, but especially those of a darker complexion– “chocolate girls.” I wanted to create a place where real women could get ideas about fashion and life, regardless of socioeconomic status, age, weight, skin color, etc. A place where sexy is redefined. A place where intellect and fashion meet in the form of self-love. So much of the way we dress, walk and talk has to do with the way we feel about ourselves. We can’t change the skin color, height or size that we were born, but we can package ourselves the way we want. As women, we are sexy, sweet, bitter in our rawest form, strong, deep, we’re an aphrodisiac, we come in different flavors and colors….we are chocolate. We are all made of chocolate, that’s what connects us. Who we are and what we look like starts on the inside and manifests on the outside. It’s about feeling and looking good, and sharing that love the way chocolate is meant to be shared. Look good, feel good; feel good, look better– that’s what The Coco Gawdess is about.

What motivates you to dedicate time to blogging?

The response I get is one of my biggest motivators. Whether it’s on the blog, on my Youtube channel, or on Instagram, the response of girls (and women!) that identify with my sense of style, sense of humor, background or interests is beyond rewarding. Another motivator is the release. Blogging is freeing, therapeutic almost. It’s completely separate from my career and from my day-to-day life. It also allows me to express my creative side and challenges me to come up with new ideas, new strategies and to learn new software and new programs.

In one year, what do you hope manifests from your blogging?

I have big plans for The Coco Gawdess for the next 12 months. In a nutshell, I hope to turn The Coco Gawdess into exactly what it was meant to be…a movement. I hope every girl who reads a blog post, sees an Instagram picture or caption or watches a Youtube video feels like she is made of Godiva. I want every girl to recognize the Coco Gawdess in her.

Name two of your favorite bloggers you follow.

Claire Sumners of FashionBombDaily and Shiona Turini (more of a journalist than a blogger) are two of my favorites right now. I love the way Claire has climbed to the top, is a resource for so many fashionistas and highlights a new Fashion Bomb every so often. I absolutely love the way Shiona Turini knows and loves who she is and where she comes from. Now THAT’S a Coco Gawdess.

What legacy do you want to leave behind for others to know about you?TheCocoGawdessBlogHeader

I can only hope that others see the chocolate in me. Not the obvious deep brown of my physical, but the sweet, richness of my soul. That sounds dramatic, but I want to leave behind a legacy of looking good on the inside and out. I want to be known as someone who helped other women and girls achieve that as well.

Flyy Girl Friday Feature: Drea Hall

Well ladies, we have come to the end of Women’s History Month,

however, we are still celebrating

Flyy Girls everywhere!

It is so fitting to have this next blogger to end out this month, as she has inspired some of our featured Flyy Girls!

So get ready to know a blogger who has found her niche and is steadily becoming

a Brown Girl on the rise.

Ladies and Gentlemen

Please introduce yourself to the readers:

Hi, my name is Drea and I reside in Chicago, IL.

Tell the readers about your blog, The Drea Daily:

The Drea Daily is my lifestyle blog where I write about a myriad of topics but mostly style, beauty, food, music, books and my musings on just about anything that I am fancying at the time.

Why did you begin blogging?

I started blogging as an assignment for a college course I was taking at the time. It was called ‘Sociology of Leisure’ and at the beginning of the course, the professor instructed us to choose a leisure activity that we could see ourselves sticking with for the remainder of the semester, and I chose blogging. When the semester ended, I could’ve deleted my blog but I didn’t. And here I am four years later, still blogging

What motivates you to dedicate time to blogging?

I’ll preface this by admitting there are some days that I don’t feel like stringing a single sentence together, much less an entire blog post. That said, the one motivating factor that drives me back to my blog week after week is my selfish need to document what’s happening in my life — from the clothes I’m wearing, to the makeup I’m obsessed with, to the TV shows I’m watching, to the music I’m listening to. During my early years of blogging, my motivation for blogging was less self-serving; I wanted to have a blog that helped and inspired people. These days, I’m much more candid about my selfish reasons for blogging. I blog because I enjoy blogging about my life — that’s it. My intent is not to empower or enlighten anyone in the process, but if that happens, I’m okay with it.

In one year, what do you hope manifests from your blogging?

In one year, I hope that my photography skills sharpen and my email newsletter gains more readers/subscribers.

Name two of your favorite bloggers you follow:

Two of my favorite bloggers to follow are Candice of because she has a very inspiring entrepreneurial spirit and I’m always curious to see what she does next. Plus, her blog posts are remarkably succinct and straight to the point; I never walk away from her blog befuddled by what she’s written. Also, Mary of Verily Merrily Mary because she’s an undeniably good writer with an extensive vocabulary. More than that, though, she’s a blogger who thinks. I can tell she wrestles with her thoughts and thinks before she writes, and I have a great admiration for that.

What legacy do you want to leave behind for others to know about you?drea-the-drea-daily-01

Frankly, my mind is never occupied with thoughts about what others will think of me when I’m gone. Leaving a legacy is just not something that crosses my mind when I’m blogging or doing anything else for that matter. If anything, I’d say that I would want others to know that I was an honest, transparent person. There is nothing about me or my life that I am ashamed to speak or write about. I own up to every bit of who I am and who I’ve been — the good, the not so good, as well as the nice and not so nice.

Flyy Girl Friday Feature: Dorie

Spring is upon us and with the change of the seasons,

brings a bright and endearing attitude about new goals and adventures.

Dorie of Dee Grows Up embodies this winning attitude through her

diverse blog posts and fun photography.

This twenty-something has a fresh lease on life and she wants to help others

find their way to individuality.

Ladies and Gentlemen welcome

Hi, please introduce yourself to the readers:

Dorie, (Dee) from Miami, Florida.

Give us a brief description of your blog, Dee Grows Up:

My blog is a lifestyle blog dedicated to the 20-somethings out there still trying to define this thing called adulthood. It’s where I talk about the experience of being an awkward 20-something navigating my way through life and the many lessons I learn along the way. It’s about my trials and my triumphs. I also share everything that inspires me from music, fashion, and art to other 20-somethings that I admire. I know I won’t be in my twenties forever, so as I grow my blog will grow with me, hence the name DeeGrowsUp

Why did you begin blogging?

I began blogging last summer when I graduated early from college. I felt like I was catapulted prematurely into adulthood territory and left to figure it out all on my own. But with prayer and guidance from my family, friends who didn’t mind reading my annoying and desperate 5-paragraph text messages, AND pouring myself into starting up a blog, I was able to survive that summer in one piece and with my sanity.

What motivates you to dedicate time to blogging?

Writing and designing have always been a hobby for me, and I really do feel, I have interesting stories to share. If I can dedicate at least one hour out of my day I can knock out a decent post. I love getting feedback and responding to comments. Although I don’t have a problem writing and talking to myself, it’s motivating to know that someone out there is listening.

In one year, what do you hope manifests from your blogging?

I want to focus on growing my readership and knowing that I’m having an impact on others someway and somehow. I also want to branch out of my comfort zone and start doing interviews, and also blogging about my spiritual journey. I’m also going to start selling a few products this year so be on the lookout! But more than anything I hope this year manifests more opportunities to connect with and work with other bloggers
Name two of your favorite bloggers you follow:Dorie3

Two of my favorite bloggers are Miranda Elise from and Krystal Scott from Miranda, blogs about college life, and keeping God in the midst of your relationship; her blog posts are like excerpts from a novel and are so interesting to read. I admire Krystal because her blog is a place to stay inspired and have faith in God.

What legacy do you want to leave behind for others to know about you?

I want others to know about me that I have a rebel heart. I am known for going against the grain and doing things that people would totally not expect from me. I have a spontaneous personality and a YOLO attitude. Life is too short to second guess. By the way I live my life, I want to inspire other people to not live confined in what they doubt that they are capable of doing, or what other people underestimate of them. I’ve actually had to grow into this type of attitude. I used to be painfully shy and it was only about 2 years ago that I started taking risks and REALLY living my life. The benefits and opportunities have since come knocking in abundance and I have never looked back.

Flyy Girl Friday Feature: Chrissie

Hello readers and welcome back for another edition of

Flyy Girl Friday Feature!

Today focuses on a lady who is all about the pretty positivity!

Step into a world of good vibes and warm smiles.

Ladies and Gentlemen welcome

Hi Chrissie, please introduce yourself:ChrissieW2

Hi! I am Chrissie, but my friends call me Chris for short. I was born and raised in North Carolina, but currently residing in Maryland, outside of Baltimore.

Please tell us about your blog, ForeverPretty08:

My site is, and it is pretty much about everything that comes to mind that I am passionate about. I love fashion, beauty, traveling, cooking, discussing motherhood, fitness, natural hair care, relationships & marriage and God. You can find a post about those things and more! One thing I am learning, is to speak truth and light to others, so all of my posts, whether it is a product review or an inspirational post, I promise to be honest and real with everyone. I also have a YouTube channel, where I post in video form. My channel is ForeverPretty08.

Why did you begin blogging?

I actually started blogging back in 2000, during my 9th grade year. I didn’t have close friends or anyone who I could talk with regarding what was on my mind. That blog was my outlet to sharing my thoughts.  Now that blogging has become so popular, and more people are turning to blogging as a means of communication, I hope my thoughts can touch someone who may be going through or experiencing the same thoughts or things as me.ChrissieW1

What motivates you to dedicate time to blogging?

I think what motivates me is knowing that I have the time and ability to do it full-time now. I am a Stay At Home Mom and when my child is asleep in the day or night, I go to my computer to write and improve my blog. Before when I was working, in school, traveling and doing everything else, I didn’t have much time to blog or take it seriously. Now that I have more time, I am able to write and improve my blog. I believe it is what I have been called to do.

Furthermore, I hope to connect and collaborate with people and businesses down the line, once my blog becomes famous lol!

In one year, what do you hope manifests from your blogging?

Well, besides connecting and collaborating, I want to meet others who like me, enjoy blogging because it is something our hearts desire! Also, I would like to increase my subscriber base. I am praying that will change this year.

Name two of your favorite bloggers you follow:

I love Shirley B. Eniang of Shirley’s Wardrobe. She is a UK-based beauty blogger and she is AMAZING! Y’all need to check her out. I also like Heather Lindsey’s blog. She takes her walk with Jesus serious and I admire her for that; because a lot of us are influenced by worldly things, that we miss the blessings and new life we could have or live, if we were living for Christ. Her testimony is so inspirational and I can relate in so many ways. She helped me get through my single stage and has helped me become closer to Christ. Y’all should check her out as well!

What legacy do you want to leave behind for others to know about you?

I hope that my blog can help and inspire someone in some way. Whether it be from my favorite lipstick, to helping you get through a life struggle. I hope that something I post may be a light to someone who may be misguided, misinformed or simply unaware. I am human like everyone else, so I can relate to a lot of things in life. I know my readers will be inspired and hopefully I will be someone’s “Friend in their head.”

Flyy Girl Friday Feature: Lisa W. Tetting

HeyGirlHey!!! Honey child, do we have a special feature for you!

Starting off the re-launch of Flyy Girl Friday,

is fellow blogger and a up & coming author.

Her personality is colorful and her focus is undeniable,

get to know the woman behind the screen.

Ladies and Gents,

Lisa W. Tetting

Blogger & Author

Hi, tell the readers your name and location.

Lisa W. Tetting in Tampa, FL

What is your blog about?

As an up and coming author, RebirthofLisa is my brainchild. There you will find my inner thoughts and lessons I have learned about life, love and the world. I express myself through my writing, poetry and photography. I am open and honest and though I may offend some, my intent is only to tell my truth. Topics will vary depending on what is on my brain at the moment and I try to infuse a little humor along the way.

Why did you begin blogging?

After searching for the Who, What, When, and Where most of my life, I finally found the courage to start writing for others to read. As you can imagine, this was a scary undertaking in my forties….but, I have learned to have no fear! Or at least to appear as if I don’t.

What motivates you to dedicate time to blogging?

I don’t believe I need any motivation to dedicate my time to blogging. Writing is a passion of mine that I finally decided to pursue. Once the door was opened, I had no choice but to step out into the world! It was one of my dreams to become a writer, and I am making it come true every day. I finally gave myself permission to be happy!

In one year, what do you hope manifests from your blogging?

In a year’s time, I hope to reach over 1000 people with my musings. I hope to secure a freelance career in writing and be able to make a living doing what I love. One thing I do not want is to be place in a box. I lived over forty years in one, and will never go back!

Name two of your favorite bloggers you follow.

Two of my favorite bloggers that I follow are 1) Colleen ( She has the gift of making each of her followers feel special. Colleen takes time to befriend her readers and I love that! She also has a wonderful Fairy Series that I enjoy reading. 2) Nadine ( because her blog is great! When she stumbled across my blog, she made comments right away, which sparked my curiosity. After reading her blog, I found we share some things in common; favorite authors and a love for the Caribbean. Though I have never met her, she seems very familiar to me; maybe we met in another life….

What legacy do you want to leave behind for others to know about you?

The legacy I want to leave behind is that of a constant desire to learn, having an open mind and spreading love through my writings. If I can touch the hearts of my readers, and cause them to seek commonality in people who do not share the same ideals, then I have done my job.

The Return of Flyy Girl Friday Feature

FlyyGirlWhew! Okay we are going to try this thang one more time, before I throw my hands up with the idea. This time around, I took the power back into my hands and decided to work smarter, not backwards.

I was fortunate enough to stumble upon Brown Girl Bloggers, when the admin, Candice VanWye, “liked” a pic of mine on Instagram. I have been following the Brown Girl Bloggers movement ever since.

This community of bloggers is made up of sistars from various backgrounds and blog platforms. From, lifestyle, to fashion, food, interior decorating, travel, fitness, beauty, finance, business and beyond. How could I pass up the opportunity to feature these ladies, these Flyy Girl Friday Feature worthy women?!

I mean it goes to show you, when you first attempt a new goal or project, the first few times out of the gate, it may not come so easily or as smooth and fabulous-like as you envisioned it within  your mind. It could be a slow process. It could seem that no one is going to buy into the idea and support the cause. But, if you keep your eye open and watch for other opportunities, there is a way you can connect the missing pieces.

Every failure leads to the answer. Somehow, HeyGirlHey!!! is gonna get it right. I truly believe this site is going to afford me some amazing bonds with women and possibly form some amazing partnerships.

So raise your glasses to the great and long awaited successful launch of Flyy Girl Friday Feature, February 6, 2015

This is the year of #HeyyGurrlHeyy Power!
