Tell us about your blog, Coach Carli
Coach Carli is a platform where I hope to inspire individuals to become their best selves.
Why did you begin blogging?
I began blogging because I wanted to share my experiences with others. I’ve had other blogs in the past, but this one feels right. I know how it feels to want more but not be sure how to get there. I want others to know that they are not alone and that becoming your best self is possible despite your circumstances. I want them to know that they create their own opportunities.
What motivates you to dedicate time to blogging?
It’s a struggle to dedicate time to blogging because I work full-time and have a family. However, I carve out time because writing is my passion. Writing is one of the things I think of each and every day. I feel at peace when I do it. It just feels right.

In one year, what do you hope manifests from your blogging? Carlinequote
One year from now I envision Coach Carli becoming an online space where people can learn how to improve their lives. I want people to feel inspired and empowered by the tools and tips on my blog.

Tell us about your blog, Get Fit Diva:
GET FIT DIVA is a dynamic community for women who want to change their lives and become more active, find their fabulous, and live “balanced”.
Why did you begin blogging?
What started as a blog chronicling my own weight loss and healthy living journey has become a movement for women. No longer do I chase a size or number on the scale but promote being active doing things you love (for me: Zumba, spin, running, and kickboxing), finding your fabulous by traveling, eating right, and feeling your best…but also living balanced. Balance is like a unicorn but finding harmony in all that you do is paramount in your healthy living journey.
What motivates you to dedicate time to blogging?
I am motivated by my community! I love that I am connecting and helping women around the world make time for themselves to become healthier and happier. This means so much to me. We are ALL on this journey together so providing resources, workouts, and access to experts that offer “real” advice has been incredible.
In one year, what do you hope manifests from your blogging?
In the Fall, I am launching an online store with GET FIT DIVA branded merchandise and also hosting local events. I hope that this manifests into women on their journeys finding encouragement online and offline.
Name two of your favorite bloggers you follow.
Two of my favorite bloggers…that’s hard! I have so many but I love the ladies behind Brooklyn Active Mama, Losing In The City, Manifest Yourself, Mad Cool Fitness, Curvy Fashionista, Awesomely Luvvie…I am so thankful that there are so many bloggers doing their “thang” and empowering women in many, many ways.
What legacy do you want to leave behind for others to know about you?
I want to leave behind the legacy of being a great mother who loved hard and a multi-passionate woman that wanted to experience anything and everything this crazy/beautiful life brought her way!
Upcoming projects or events:
Currently, I’m working with Kohl’s on their #MakeYourMove campaign to encourage women and families to be active and eat healthier. I’m also an Ambassador for Katie K Active, Eleven by Venus, Premier Protein, and spokesperson for Adora Calcium. I love working with brands that are doing amazing things for women and families! In the Fall, I am launching branded merchandise and in the upcoming year will host, co-host, and speak at local and national events.
Please be sure to head over to GET FIT DIVA and join Aliah in her quest to motivate and inspire others on living their best life, the healthy way!

Flyy Girl Feature Friday: Ashley Clayton

Welcome back to another fabulous edition of Flyy Girl Feature Friday!

While this blog has tons of fashion sense and advice, it also doesn’t turn a blind eye to the topics of discussion which swirl around us everyday. I like a woman who sets out to accomplish her goals, but also knows it is her duty to share her space as a place for communication and understanding.

Because at the end of the day, yes, blogging can be a selfish job, but it can also be a way to enlighten others and make them aware of what is happening beyond their community and to help give them some clarity with various issues.

So cheers to this Brown Blogger, for her multi-faceted topics and for allowing her readers to step inside her world beyond the fashion

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Ms. Ashley Clayton

Please introduce yourself to the readers.AshleyClayton2

Ashley Clayton, Fresno CA

Tell us about your blog, Twe1ve2

Twe1ve2 is a bit of a lifestyle blog and a bit of personal memoir with a splash of my opinions on various topics.

Why did you begin blogging?

When I graduated from college in 2014, I decided that I wanted to go into social media marketing or Public Relations. After applying to countless positions, I was told by a family friend that I did not have a strong online presence. She mentioned to me that this was probably the reason I wasn’t being hired. So I created Twe1ve2 hoping that my blog would help me secure a career in my profession of choice.

What motivates you to dedicate time to blogging?

My friends are my biggest motivators. Their constantly asking me when is my next blog post or what topic I’m looking into writing about. Without all of their support I probably would have given up a long time ago. I tried to blog before and didn’t have the support that I do now. So all of my success in the blogosphere is attributed to them.

In one year, what do you hope manifests from your blogging?

A year is a long time…. but I hope to secure a stable following. I also would like to see my blog grow in followers and engagement. However; I hope my blog inspires someone. That someone, somewhere reads a post or finds one of my related social media accounts and is inspired.

Name two of your favorite bloggers you follow.

I happen to know both of my favorite bloggers personally so it’s really exciting that I get to share them with you.

Michael Stover is not only one of the closest people to me but he’s an amazing hip hop blogger that writes for various sites across the internet.

The other happens to be a friend of mine from college, Janae Bryson of Janae Sais Quoi. She writes a fashion/lifestyle blog that I definitely stay up to date with.

What legacy do you want to leave behind for others to know about you?AshleyClaytonblog

I want people to know that words aren’t just words. When I was in college I used to call a ton of people my “best friend” except the people who were really my “best friend”. My overuse of the word caused it to have less power than many people would allow it to have. I want people to feel that way about all words. As a writer I understand that there is power in language, vocabulary, and how you choose to use the two together.

Upcoming projects or events

I have a lot of upcoming projects towards the end of the summer. I plan on making the move to a self-hosted website. So I’ll be over at which is really exciting for me. I also plan on reviewing a couple of music festival and working with a few brands on blog posts once I make the switch.

The biggest out of all of my projects though is the hosting switch. Once I make the switch I plan on having a giveaway to celebrate it. I won’t say what the prizes are but I happen to be a big fan of Chipotle.

AshleyClayton1Make sure you check out more of what is in store for Ashley on her blog, Twe1ve, and follow to stay up-to-date with her upcoming site move! Best of success to her!

Flyy Girl Feature Friday: Amy Juicebox

Hi beautiful people! It is officially the end of yet another week in June and that only means one thing around these parts,

Flyy Girl Friday!!!

Now okay, I know that every Friday I may say that this Brown Blogger is dope

and that I could read her blog everyday, but that is because it is true. Yet, when

mine eyes came to the page of today’s blogger, a chord of my heart was struck, she speaks the

language of written broken English, it isn’t full of it, but wittily placed. And I automatically begin to settle into my Indian style

position on the bed as I read of her new experiences with a special parade and taking her branding to a whole new level.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

                                                Miss Amy JuiceboxAmyJuicebox2

Please introduce yourself to the readers:
Amy Juicebox, Toronto
Tell us about your blog; [ now a word or two]:
An any and everything goes space adding positive noise to the internet. Writing from every 50 shades of my being: Mother. Canadian. Black Woman. Human.
Why did you begin blogging?
I was commenting a lot on Very Smart Brothas and was encouraged by other commenters to start a blog. One day I did! It’s taken some twists and turns, including shutting down my original blog due to internet stalking/harassment – but I’m here and happy that I opened WordPress many moons ago.
What motivates you to dedicate time to blogging?
Needing to have something for me. It’s very easy as a mother to lose yourself in the necessity of providing for your children. I am passionate about it, it’s therapy and frankly..I’m good at it! LOL.
In one year, what do you hope manifests from your blogging?
I hope to define a niche, monetize my writings, clearly define the brand.
Name two of your favorite bloggers you follow.
Oh man…that’s the hardest question ever! I’d say Luvvie of Awesomely Luvvie. She’s the Patron Saint of Blogging. She’s funny, savvy and always has her finger on the pulse. Her name means something, but despite her other projects hasn’t diluted her brand. The second? It’s cheating BUT… a conglomerate of women who are unique, talented, ambitious, vulnerable and are generous with their words and talents: Rae of Untitled, 1975, Gem of That’s What Gem Said, Dara of Truly Tafakari and Bee of 83 To Infinity. Each motivate me to be a better blogger and embrace being a writer.
What legacy do you want to leave behind for others to know about you?
If I was rendered unable to write tomorrow, I’d want the world to know that I wrote from the heart, with education (with entertainment) in mind. The blog’s goal was to be a space of positive and fun interaction. You should leave: smarter, happier and wanting to come back.
Upcoming projects or events:
I continue to write over at and have recently launched a new tag-team duo blog space: I’ll be attending my first blog conferences this summer – Blogging While Brown in June and BlogHer in July!
Now honestly now, no but for real for real, if this Flyy Girl Feature, does not make you wanna go to Amy Juicebox’s blog, then I really don’t know what to tell you, because it really is that good. People go to the blog, be entertained today!

Flyy Girl Feature Friday: Britteny McZeal

Honey, it is finally Flyy Girl Feature Friday, and I for one am glad about it!

Sometimes fashion blogs can seem to mimmick each other and there seems not to be one that quite suites my oh so short attention span, and then I stumbled upon a blog

that unapologetically gives commentary to the world of fashion, with a fun and sopho-edge-chic feel.

Candidly Creole is like opening your favorite fashion magazine and actually enjoy reading the stories

 that accompany each picture.

Ladies and Gentlemen you are in for a great new discovery,

                                              Miss Britteny McZeal.BrittanyMcZeal

Please introduce your to the readers.

My name is Brittney from Lafayette, Louisiana.

Tell a little about your blog, Candidly Creole:

My blog, Candidly Creole, is  a collection of my candid thoughts on topics like fashion, pop culture, music, books, and makeup.  Basically, anything I’m really feeling at the moment  – a song, an outfit idea, a face product – gets blogged about.

Why did you begin blogging?

One reason why I began blogging is because I like to create things. I love making graphics and taking pictures, and that was one of the primary reasons why I started to blog.

What motivates you to dedicate time to blogging?
I originally began blogging as a way to pass the time, but over the year it has grown to be something I really enjoy doing. This is probably my 4th blog to date and it’s been the only one that I’ve been the most consistent with. Sometimes, however, I do find a little difficult for me to stick with a schedule or think of a good blog post. But in the end, I just blog about what I want to blog about and not what I think I should blog about.

In one year, what do you hope manifests from your blogging?
In one year, I hope to build more connections and communication with other bloggers and creatives across the internet.

Name two of your favorite bloggers you follow.CandidlyCreole1

Two of my favorite bloggers are Christina from ProFresh Style and Carmen from She Recycles Fashion because they are super stylish.

What legacy do you want to leave behind for others to know about you?

I’ve never really thought about this before, but I want others to know that I am a passionate and hardworking individual.

Upcoming projects or events?

I can’t really think of any upcoming events or projects, but if I do I will let you know!

Be sure to follow Britteny on WordPress and stay in the know on what’s hot and fun on Candidly Creole!

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Ms. Andrea “Drea” C.NaturalleDreatree

Welcome! Please introduce yourself to the readers:

Andrea C., New Jersey

Tell us a little about your blog, Naturalle Drea.

My outlet for talking about my love of natural hair, makeup, fashion, life and anything beauty related.

Why did you begin blogging?

The idea just came to me one day when I was at home on my day off. I wanted to do something that was me, outside of being mommy, girlfriend, friend and daughter. I wanted an outlet where I could talk about my natural hair journey, products that I love so much and about life. I knew blogging would give me that outlet I wanted and be able to connect with those that share the same passion as I do.
What motivates you to dedicate time to blogging?
I want to be a successful blogger and I’ve learned along the way that you have to really put in the time, dedication and work to make it successful. Nothing comes easy and you have to work for it. I am driven by success. Plus I have fallen so much in love with blogging., that if I could, I would blog everyday.
In one year, what do you hope manifests from your blogging?
I hope to continue to grow my readers and followers. I also want to put out better content and just be an overall better blogger than the year before.

Flyy Girl Feature Friday: Brittany Bazile

Flyy Girl Feature Friday is starting off the summer with a bubbly Brown Blogger,

who seems to have a great infinity for all things media related.

Her blog is a continuous slideshow of music, books, trendy topics and bright fun photography.

I would like to think she leads an exciting life full of adventure and tons of stories to share.

So find your happy place and prepare to meet a lady who has her

hand on the pulse of what is new and now, oh yeah and she is preparing to say “I do!”

Ladies and Gentlemen,

                                                                                   Brittany Bazile.BrittanyBazile1

Please introduce yourself to the readers.

Hi everyone! I am Brittany from San Antonio, TX.

Tell us a little about your blog, Your Friend Brittany.

The idea behind Your Friend, Brittany was that I wanted a place to share my thoughts, feeling and opinions. I wanted a place to come and talk about things going on in my life as well as things happening around me and I wanted to be able to share that with people who may be interested. My hope was that I’d not only share my experiences and feelings in a way that was fun, truthful, and interesting to others but that it would also spark a bit of conversation with my readers and that the conversation would flow organically like a group of friends; hence the name of the blog.

Why did you begin blogging?

I started blogging back in 2011 because a few people told me they thought I should. I was forever ranting  about something and it seemed like a good outlet. I was a bit all over the place with that first blog and eventually transitioned it into a Tumblr blog back in 2013. I ended up taking a break in 2014 from writing, Twitter, and most social media and transitioned my Tumblr blog into a fashion/street style blog only, but at the beginning of 2015 I got the itch to blog again. I started Your Friend, Brittany because I honestly enjoy blogging; I like the community aspect of it and like having a place to get your thoughts and feelings out. I found myself really missing lifestyle blogging so I came back.

What motivates you to dedicate time to blogging?

One thing that motivates me is that I enjoy blogging. I find it fun to have an idea and then to try and think about whether or not that can work as a blog post. I also tend to do a lo oft my blog posts in one chunk of time and then save them in drafts. This helps me on those days or weeks when I may not feel like coming up with anything. Another big motivator is that I never want someone to start reading my blog or stumble upon an older post they like and then realize I haven’t posted in forever!! This happens to me all the time.

I am forever finding a great blog and then realizing the person rarely posts. I try to remind myself of this on days when I may not feel like writing. That being said, I do think it’s worth noting that while I do have the occasional longer post, most of my content on Your Friend, Brittany is shorter essay style posts, book recommendations, and lists. This isn’t to say that it’s not work to create that content because it is but it is to say that I’m not writing these lengthy essay posts every day. I have done that before, respect how challenging that can be, and I can understand how it can be hard to find motivation to keep those kinds of posts going daily on a blog.

In one year, what do you hope manifests from your blogging?

I’d like to have more followers and more interaction on posts. I’m starting to see more comments on my posts and that’s great but I would love to get my followers up too!

Name two of your favorite bloggers you follow.BrittanyBazile3

I’m a big fan of Drea from The Drea Daily and Sarah from Venus Trapped in Mars. Drea’s site is so aesthetically pleasing and clean and simple. I really enjoy her content and think it’s a nice mix of so many different things. I also love her on Twitter. I am a huge fan of bloggers who actually tweet real things instead of just links to their posts or only blogging related topics. Sarah somehow turned a blog that seems to be geared towards teaching women about sports into a great all around lifestyle blog that also teaches women about sports. She’s one of the few people I’ve seen who can do the whole sponsored posts thing the right way. Just like Drea, she’s also great on Twitter too. I find both ladies to be incredibly authentic on their blogs and Twitter as well as fun to interact with on social media.

What legacy do you want to leave behind for others to know about you?

You know, I’ve never really thought of this in terms of blogging. Truthfully, I’m really only concerned with what my family and friends know/think about me but I will say that I hope anyone who visits my blog knows that I’m authentic. I think that may be a downfall of mine should I ever try to turn this blog into some big time, fancy, proper money making blog. I just don’t know how to be anything other than me and I personally think that’s a great thing but in a society where image is everything I imagine that my occasional potty mouth and sometimes controversial opinions may be off putting to some; still, authenticity over everything. Also, if I can add one thing, I repeat this so many times on my blog and tell anyone who will listen because it took me years to realize it but I’d like for everyone to know and truly understand that your thoughts shape your reality; this is such an important thing to learn.

Upcoming projects or events?

Nothing blog related. I’m still in the baby stages of this blog so I’m just working on growing it and seeing where it’s at once I get to the one year mark. Personally I’m in the final stages of wedding planning and getting married in September so I’m kind of focused on that.

We send well wishes out to Brittany for her special day quickly approaching and look forward to the beautiful wedding photos we are sure are to come! To keep up with Brit via social media follow her:

Flyy Girl Feature Friday: United States Attorney General Loretta Lynch

lorettalynch1I am so glad to finally close out this week and get into the weekend.

But before I do, let’s get into today’s Flyy Girl Feature!

Loretta Lynch was officially inducted as the first Black Female United States Attorney General on April 23, 2015.

Hailing from a career which stems from her beginnings as a litigation associate to her tenure as a U. S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, in 1999 under President Clinton’s administration. She later left her position to become partner at Hogan & Hairston, until she was nominated by President Obama as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York in 2010. From the years of 2003-2005, she served as a board member of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

Lynch’s nomination followed the departure of her predecessor, Eric Holder, who previously stated his resignation pending confirmation of his replacement. And on November 8, 2014, President Obama made her nomination official.

While her transition into the office of U.S. Attorney General has been met with some pushback from Republicans and the city of Baltimore, Maryland is in a current state of extreme tension from the result of Freddie Gray dying in police custody, I hope that she will bring a better and effective plan to the table that serves to protect the rights of all U. S. citizens.

Here’s to Change!
