I learned a valuable lesson over the weekend, while in mid conversation with someone I am close to. In discussing my point with this person and feeling very much passionate about my stance, my spirit intervened and pointed out a behavior I tend to evoke in my relationships with others.
Stop trying to prove yourself worthy and stop trying to stress your value.
Simple as that. And I recognized it immediately and backed off the discussion, because my passion stemmed from a place of wanting to be seen differently in their eyes although I already know who I am.
I spent the rest of my evening going over previous engagements I’ve had with various people where our connection fizzled or altered and I realized how often I have made the mistake of trying to prove myself worthy enough for others to accept me into their space.
Realizing I can utilize that same energy to better prepare my space for those who truly desire to partake in my life and all that I have to offer. It gave me hope that I can better go forth in my relationships with others and make sound choices on how to engage and to what extent I am willing to engage with them, and for that I am grateful.
Make sure the space you are pushing for in the lives of others, is more about understanding where you fit, rather than why you should fit.
